We take great pleasure in announcing an exciting new product in our lineup. In the past we have launched a range of user interfaces for use on desktop computers and personal communication devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. The one interface we thought that was missing in our lineup was a simple-to-use tool for local, but also broadband independent access to our site units (D-RTU), supporting local operations, commissioning or trouble shooting services without the need being connected with the Green Energy Portal.
Instead of having an expensive HMI device installed at the D-RTU specifically designed for use in rough or industrial environments and only used once per week or per month, we developed a solution that can easily run on the mobile devices of O&M staff, such as laptops, smart phones or even a tablet PC.
Local connectivity with our D-RTU is possible either via Ethernet cable or temporary WiFi access. Since this solution is independent of the number of solar installations, just one mobile device per O&M staff is necessary, i.e. laptop or iPad. The Local HMI will not only lower the investment cost per site, it also avoids operational and maintenance costs generated by expensive locally-installed HMI devices.
The Local HMI is browser-driven (Safari, Firefox) and platform-independent. Since this is a direct connection, the interface displays data in real-time. If you have accessed or used the Tech Client of the Green Energy Portal, you will find the user interface very familiar. It is basically a stripped-down version of the Tech Client with the monitoring, control and configuration remaining.
